One-of-a-Kind: Why No Two Lilly & Jude Bags Are the Same
"Buying a mass-produced designer bag is a bit like paying gallery prices for a postcard of a famous painting. You've paid like it's rare, but it's a print, one of thousands, and everyone in the gift shop queue is holding the same one."
There's a question I get asked more than almost any other: "Can you make me another one exactly like it?"
And the honest answer is no. I can't. Not because I'm being precious about it or because it's some marketing gimmick, but because it's physically impossible. The hide that made your bag is gone. There isn't another one, and it's that uniqueness that makes every single piece so special.
No factories. No patterns cut a thousand times over.
Every Lilly & Jude bag starts life as an offcut or a scrap, leather that a manufacturer somewhere has thrown out for being too small, too odd a shape, or too "flawed" to be worth their while. I rescue it before it can end up in landfill and turn it into a genuinely one of a kind handbag, not a copy of one.
I actually love those flaws. The marks, the grain variations, the bits a factory would reject on sight, they're not something I try to hide or work around. They add character and interest that a pristine, uniform hide never could. I work with whatever the scraps present me with, and because every single piece of rescued leather is different, so is every rescued leather bag cut from it.
Compare that to the mass-produced designer bags lining the shelves of every high street. Same pattern. Same factory. Same bag, repeated thousands of times over, until "luxury" starts to feel a bit... hollow. You've paid a premium, and what you've got is just expensive, not special. And frankly, this mass production is soul crushingly boring, and not all that great for the environment either.
I wanted to do things differently.
Yes, I reuse some patterns.
No, that doesn't make them the same bag.
Scrap-tastic!
Why this matters more than just
"Oh, that's cool"
Not a postcard. The actual painting.
Can I be a bit cheeky for a second?

Are Lilly & Jude Bags Expensive?
So are my bags expensive? Well that depends what you're comparing them to.
Next to a Primark handbag, yes, mine cost more.
Next to a Hermès Birkin? I'd have to laugh uncontrollably, then explain that you could probably buy my entire business for less than half the price of a half decent second-hand Birkin 30.
With a Lilly & Jude bag, what you're actually paying for is something handcrafted, and a limited edition of exactly one. You're not paying the designer logo tax either, so my bags don't cost the earth, in either sense of the phrase.
But hey, I've got big plans, and one day I'd love to be able to charge "Birkin" prices with a straight face. I'm not there yet. So for now, just think of buying a Lilly & Jude bag as your chance to own an original, before I got famous! #Manifesting #AreYouThereUniverseItsMeKerry
Sold out?! Ack!! Someone else got there first!
Want a Bag that's Sold Out?
Sorry. No can do, mon ami.
I get it, I really do. If you've seen a bag on here and fallen in love with it, it's disappointing to hear you can't have an identical one. But here's the bit I hope softens that blow: I can very often make something inspired by it, in a similar leather, a similar shape, a similar feel, just with its own personality. You'll get something that captures what you loved, but that's entirely, unmistakably yours.
Because honestly? You don't want the same bag as everyone else. You just think you do because that's what fast fashion has trained us to want.
What you actually want is a genuinely unique handbag that feels like it was made for you, with you in mind. Which my bags are.

Ready to Find Your One-of-a-Kind Bag?
I really hate to sound all sales-y, but every bag on this site is genuinely one of one.
Once it's sold, it's properly gone, no reprints, no restocks, no "just like it."
Have a browse, and if something stops you in your tracks, that's your answer. Someone else won't wait either.
QUICK QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS...
CAN I ORDER A BAG THAT'S OUT OF STOCK?
No. Sorry. Every bag is cut from its own piece of rescued leather, so once it's sold, that specific bag is gone for good. I can make you something inspired by it, just never identical.
Now... if your heart is absolutely set on a bag that's gone to its forever home, then you can get in touch with me via the contact page, and we can have a discussion to see if I can make something similar. I don't currently offer a bespoke service, but I can sometimes add similar bags to my 'to make' list. I can't make any promises, but I will always try to accommodate you.
QUICK QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS
Why do some designs share the same pattern?
A handful of my most-loved shapes, like the Flossy and Starburn, get reused because they simply work and people ask for them again and again. What never repeats is the leather, the lining, the hardware and the straps, so the pattern might be familiar but the bag never is.
How do I make sure I don't miss out on a bag I love?
Don't sit on it. Once it's gone, it's properly gone.
Joining the VIP list is the best way to see new one-of-a-kind pieces the moment they land, before they're live on the main shop (and usually with a nice discount voucher to go along with it!).
